Holidays can be tough for busy moms! I just realized with horror last week that Thanksgiving was just a week away and that there are not nearly enough shopping days before Christmas! Eek! Don't let the stress overshadow you! Here a few tips on how to use natural stress relief to actually relax and enjoy the holiday season.

How to Conquer the Holidays with Natural Stress Relief

1. Refocus.

Remember what we focus on most expands and crowds out everything else. Rather than focusing on the stress and busy-ness, focus on what you're thankful for and parts of your life that make you happy. Here's part of my list: my hubby, my kids and grandkids, a warm home, my friends and church family, Whole Foods for cooking most of my dinner (still need to cook the turkey, but they've got it all prepped for me!), and my ability to work from home.  Focus on the positives and what you're thankful for, and the negatives will shrink and seem less important.

2. Do what you love.

If baking pies gives you joy, go for it! If cooking or baking is not your thing, have someone else do it! These days, it's pretty easy to order or pick up meals that are almost fully prepped, and they're not that much more money than just buying all the ingredients and doing it yourself. Doing tasks that make you happy and outsourcing those that don't will go a long way toward lightening your mood and stress level!

3. Simplify.

I know that some moms are super organized and have their gift list written in July and their holiday gifts bought by October. That's not me, and it's probably not you. Don't let the panic set in. Simplify gifts that you give to extended family. What I've done is pick a category each year, and buy everyone a different version of the same item. It's a huge time saver, and it's still thoughtful. With kids, I really like the approach of getting them one bigger gift and then something to wear, something to read, and a treat. And if you can grab all of these gifts online or at one or two places, that will save you time, money, and stress!

4. Reprioritize.

You'll be a much happier mom  when you remind yourself that “people are more important than things.” It's so easy to get caught up in drama and stress over stuff! But life is so much more than that! Stuff, one day, winds up in the landfill. We all love gifts and the things we own, but at the end of the day, we need to cultivate and nurture the spirits of ourselves and our littles. That's what's most important.

5. Tell someone you love and appreciate them.

Give a hug. Let your partner, kids, family and friends know that they are special and mean a lot to you.

6. Give thanks!

You are loved. You're a good enough mom — the perfect mom for your kids. You have gifts and supermom powers that make you amazing!

Just because the holidays are a busy time does not mean that you have to let it overwhelm you! Use these 6 natural stress relief tips to help get back into the moment and enjoy time with your family.
